About Kim Dae-jung

Kim Dae-jung (1925–2009) was President from 1998–2003 and a long-time opposition figure. He survived assassination attempts, spent years under house arrest, and later won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for his “Sunshine Policy” toward North Korea. He is widely regarded as a champion of democracy and reconciliation.
