About Houari Boumédiène
Houari Boumédiène (1932–1978) was president of Algeria (1965–1978) after a 1965 coup. A military leader who nationalised oil and pursued state-led industrialisation, his rule reshaped Algeria's post-independence economy and foreign policy.
